I’m Ellen Peeples; photographer, teacher and lover of life. I think everything is beautiful. I’m a Texan born and raised. I love music, all furry animals, and lying in the hammock all afternoon reading a good book. I love to laugh, sing, and meet other like-minded, cool-as-a-popsicle people. I’d love to meet you.
I’m not a gear-head. I know how to work a camera, don’t get me wrong, but you’re not going to hear about it on this blog. You’re going to hear stories of the beauty that’s all around us everyday if we have the eyes to see it.
I’m a creative dreamer and I’ll never show up at your session with the entire shoot planned out. In fact, I’ll probably just show up and see where the breeze blows us. I love pictures that tell a story. You know, the ones you can look at and just tell that there is so much going on beneath the surface. I love the way a camera can catch raw emotion in that one split second where you think no one is watching.
If you decide to do me the honor of letting me take your picture, I want you to be you. Don’t worry about looking like a supermodel. Don’t try to get those kids to put on their Sunday best and stay out of the mud. You’re all awesome the way you are, and one of my very-most favorite things is helping you see and embrace all that awesomeness. I also love making up words. Don’t judge. My friends understand them.
At every portrait session I photograph, I want to capture more than just how you look. My goal is to tell a story… the story of your life. Who you are today, right now, in this moment. Silly three-year olds are allowed (and encouraged) to be silly. Moody teenagers are never asked to say cheese. Don’t want to pose in front of the fireplace? Good, because I wasn’t planning on asking you to. Relax. Be yourselves.
And most of all, have fun!
